I'M LAURA
Â
I help busy moms who are looking for ways to organize their time, their families, their stuff, and their lives so that they are free to purposefully pursue their passions. I give them tools to bring more order, intention, and fun into their lives.
I learned great teaching techniques at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana, where I earned a bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in education. (I also met my future husband there while we were both studying for a rocks and minerals test in our natural science class. Double score for me!)
I received a master’s degree in counseling/psychology from Indiana University. Go Big Red!
During the school year, I work by day as a licensed high school counselor at a local, private, college-preparatory school, where I also teach a college-level interpersonal communications course.
When I am not teaching students how to raise their SAT scores or creating online courses for busy moms, I help my husband who owns and manages a couple of small businesses in our hometown. Together, we have six children and two dogs.

5 OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
Â
- Waking up without an alarm.
- Dancing (I’m not good at it, but it’s my favorite type of exercise.)
- Painting - the walls of my house, not pretty pictures
- Buying new shoes
- Sitting on my porch swing with God and my Bible.
Â
5 OF MY LEAST FAVORITE THINGS
- Waking up with an alarm.
- Running for exercise (I do enjoy a nice, long walk, though.)
- Cleaning bathrooms (I’ve got four of them.)
- Buying groceries (and putting them away).
- Having too many things to do in too little time
Â
Even though most of my kids are now grown and out of the house, I have a busy schedule, a busy household, and a busy life. (I bet you do, too!)
One day during my quiet time, I was reading a book by one of my favorite Christian authors, Donna Partow, in which she asked, “Who around you is drowning?” and “Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone to help them?”
“Who around me is drowning?” Â
I thought, “Every week at school, at church, and in the grocery store, I see young mothers who are working so hard to be the best wives and mothers they can be, yet are discouraged when their best doesn’t seem to be good enough. These dear ladies are overworked, overtired, and overwhelmed.”
I know because I was one of those moms not too many years ago.
"Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone to help them?”
My answer? A resounding “Yes, LORD! Sign me up!”
So, here I am, a long way from my comfort zone, but with a sincere desire to serve busy young mothers who have more items on their “to do” lists than they have hours in the day, who cringe when they hear the words, “What’s for dinner?”, and who have secret hopes and desires that they’ve put on hold because they think they don’t have any time to pursue them.
